An evening in the year 1992 with a delay in receiving the lyrics of a jingle, got noted singer Hariharan and Lesle Lewis to jam a session of fusion of Indian and Western music, and thus was the birth of one of the industry’s best band called the Colonial Cousins. Their first album hit the platinum sales in India alone and consistently topped the Indian music charts in 1996.
The journey of the Colonial Cousins has been acknowledged far and wide with awards including the MTV Indian Viewers’ Choice award in New York and Billboard Award for the Best Asian Music Group in Las Vegas.
Apart from being the only band to perform at MTV Unplugged in London, the Colonial Cousins have a series of Indian awards to follow. Along with their albums, the Colonial Cousins have also created music for Tamil movies like Modhi Vilaydu and Chikku Bukku. |
